Two Industry Leading Optical Wireless Companies Team Up To Provide Unparalleled Technology, Service and Support

Las Vegas, USA – April 7, 2005 - Two leaders in the optical wireless communications industry – fSONA Systems and LaserBit –today announced at the International Wireless Communications Expo (IWCE) and at ISC West that they are joining forces to deliver the most comprehensive selection of optical wireless products worldwide.

The strategic agreement allows both companies to sell the complete combined product portfolio globally. The products offered by the two companies will range from LaserBit’s low-cost Power over Ethernet (PoE) Pluto solutions to fSONA’s military-grade, high-performance SONAbeam M Series.

Both companies are recognized as significant players in today’s FSO market and have strong, yet complementary product lines and business strategies. fSONA’s high-performance systems are preferred by military, federal and service provider customers while LaserBit’s lower cost, distribution friendly products are used largely within the enterprise market.

“This agreement is the first of its kind in the burgeoning free-space optical wireless marketplace and will coordinate the efforts of two of the leading players in the industry,” observed fSONA System’s CEO, Sunny Taylor.  “By joining forces, fSONA and Laserbit immediately become the dominant force in the optical wireless industry.”

E. Walter Koenig III, CEO and Chairman for LaserBit Communications commented earlier today, “This bilateral agreement creates the strongest FSO product portfolio in the industry.  This agreement effectively unites the two companies creating the ability to provide unparalleled technology, service and support to the distribution and end user marketplaces.”

Optical wireless, also known as free-space optics (FSO) is an advanced technology for wireless communications that is unlicensed all over the world. Optical wireless avoids the cost of digging to lay fiber or licensing for radio frequencies, is immune to interference and is highly secure.
