Two Industry Veterans Selected to Spearhead fSONA's Financial and Marketing Efforts

RICHMOND, British Columbia - August 8, 2001 - fSONA Communications Corp., a manufacturer of free space optical wireless systems, today announced the appointment of Praveen Gupta as chief financial officer and Michael Corcoran as vice president of marketing and sales. Both executives will report directly to Theresa Carbonneau, president and CEO of fSONA.

Gupta will be responsible for every aspect of the company's administration and financial operations, including financing the business, formal financial reporting and corporate governance.

Prior to joining fSONA, Gupta was the CFO at Eftia, a supplier of pre-packaged operational support systems software programs where he was responsible for the financial viability of the company. Before his tenure at Eftia, Gupta was the CFO at OPCOM Solutions, Inc., a boutique enterprise solutions company specializing in workflows and help desks, where he orchestrated the multi-million dollar sale of the company to GE. He is also a chartered accountant, a certified management accountant and serves as a board member for Telecom and Technology Ventures, Inc.

Corcoran will be responsible for all sales and marketing activities at fSONA.

No stranger to the telecommunications industry, Corcoran has been involved in the sales, marketing and its operational aspects for the past 25 years. Prior to joining fSONA, Corcoran was a co-founder and vice president of sales and business development at Firstcom, Inc., a telecommunications company based in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Mr. Corcoran also co-founded and held executives positions with MCI Overseas Gateways, MCI Operation Stateside, National Independent Billing, Inc., and Military Communications Centers, Inc. He has also held executive positions with GTE Sprint and MCI Telecommunications Corporation.
