Washington, DC, July 2, 2003 – fSONA Communications, a leading wireless broadband solution provider has been elected to a leadership position within the Wireless Communications Association (WCA), the association announced on the eve of WCA 2003, its sixteenth annual convention.

Elected to the WCA Board of Directors was fSONA President and CEO Theresa Carbonneau previously of BC and British Telecom. “fSONA’s election is a well-deserved honor, and benefits all members of the wireless broadband industry,” commented WCA President Andrew Kreig. “As a member, fSONA has long worked to educate and integrate Free Space Optics into the WCA and has for some time chaired the Free Space Optical Alliance, which is now affiliated with the WCA.”

At WCA 2003, fSONA and its CEO will be featured in a panel discussion on Wednesday, July 9 entitled, “Successful Progressive Networks For Rural or Disadvantaged Communities: Improving Wi-Fi With FSO Connections.” The 2:20 p.m. panel includes Stratex Networks Director of North American Sales Randy Jenkins and Courtney Anderson, who is the Community Development Administrator for the Virginia Main Street Program within the State of Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development. Formerly, she was consultant to The Flax Trust in Ireland, which used fSONA’s FSO technologies to deliver broadband to underserved rural populations in a way that can be a model for similar projects elsewhere.
