Partnership Allows Governments Agencies to Purchase fSONA Products Using Precompeted Contracts
22 May 2013 - Las Vegas, Nevada - CTIA and Vancouver, Canada - fSONA Networks announced today that it's SONAbeam product line, the fastest single link wireless connection, is now available through Alverez and Associates prime contract under the NASA SEWP IV contract.
Alvarez and Associates, a Washington, D.C.-based Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVO/SB) information technology company and fSONA Networks, manufacturer of the highest-quality, highest-performance, free space optical wireless communications equipment, announced their partnership to provide products and services under the NASA SEWP IV contract.
The SEWP contract, or Solution for Enterprise Wide Procurement, currently in its fourth iteration, is a government-wide acquisition contract (GWAC) whose purpose is to provide advanced technology to government agencies in an efficient, streamlined and cost-saving manner. Award of a SEWP contract signifies that the vendor meets the U.S. federal government's requirements for high-performance technology products and solutions.
As part of the agreement, the entire family of SONAbeam optical wireless transceivers along with accessories, service and training packages, are now available to U.S. government agencies via the contract, including all federal agencies, the military services and certain authorized government contractors.
SONAbeam eliminates the substantial costs of digging up streets and sidewalks required to install fiber while also avoiding recurring costs. Unlike other wireless solutions, the SONAbeam is immune to electro-magnetic (EM) and radio-frequency (RF) interference which means no licensing is required.
fSONA Networks manufactures the highest-quality, highest-performance, free space optical wireless communications equipment on the market today. Key to SONAbeam's breakthrough laser technology is its operational wavelength of 1550 nm, which provides a broad spectrum of safety and performance advantages. The SONAbeam's high-powered laser transmitters are able to penetrate heavy rain, snow and fog far more effectively and consistently than any other available FSO technology.
About Alvarez and Associate
Alvarez and Associates is a Washington, D.C.-based information technology provider founded in 2004. A 100 percent Service Disabled Veteran Owned / Small Business (SDVO/SB), Alvarez & Associates' mission is to provide intellect, analysis, technology and counsel for translating strategic and technical issues into practical solutions. Its expertise enables them to partner with government and industry to deliver agile solutions that achieve measurable results. In 2007, Alvarez and Associates was awarded the NASA SEWP IV contract as one of only 38 primes. Furthermore, with its SDVO/SB status, Alvarez and Associates is one of only five of its kind within those primes. Thus, by leveraging the SEWP contract's ability to single out prime contractors by type, federal agencies have the ability to procure advanced IT and geospatial solutions while at the same time achieving their set-aside goals. New for 2013, Alvarez was awarded a prime contract for DHS to fill their requirements via First Source II. For more information visit www.alvarezassociates.com.
