Vancouver, Canada – November 6, 2003 - fSONA Communications, a leader in free space optical wireless solutions, today announced that Fares Salloum has joined the company’s Board of Directors. Salloum brings to fSONA a wealth of telecom experience gained through his tenure at Verizon/GTE.

Previously Salloum held the position of President-International, The Americas at Verizon Communications where he was responsible for the wireless and wireline operations in the Americas and related business development. Prior to that he served 3 years as Senior Vice President-International operations for GTE Corporation where he was responsible for investments in The Americas and Asia. Salloum’s career includes 24 years with BC Telecom, one of two GTE telephone operations in Canada.

Salloum served on the boards of directors of TELUS in Canada; IUSACELL in Mexico; CANTV in Venezuela; PRTC in Puerto Rico; CODETEL in the Dominican Republic; and the Verizon Foundation.

Salloum holds a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from the University of Alberta and an MBA from the University of British Columbia.
